Letter from a Queen

My little, beautiful son,

I am writing this letter lying next to you, while you sleep. You had a full day of activities that you ended up taking your third nap of the day. I can't stop admiring you. Your precious little hands, your fingers, your chubby feet, your blond and combed hair. I thank God for the miracle that he gave me and for giving me the responsibility of raising such a beautiful being of light. Sometimes I wonder, what did I do to deserve this life by your side? I wake up every morning with your beautiful smile, your little palms touching my face. You help me wake up Dad so he could start his day. The sun starts to peak over the mountain, and the warm light begins to illuminate the living room, where your Dad and I are sipping on coffee while we admire you play with your toys. Our ritual in the morning will forever be one of my best memories.

Yes, there are difficult days. Days when I think I don't have the strength to give you everything you want. But when I see your eyes, I see my reflection in you, and suddenly a type of energy comes over me that pushes me to do more than I can imagine. Your presence has made me grow my admiration for all the moms in the world. More than tired, we worry more about not knowing if we are doing well at this “mom” thing. But your laughs, your smiling eyes and your joy when exploring and playing confirms to me that yes, I must be doing something right. Thank you for choosing me as your mother. I know that God has chosen the path that we will take together, so I appreciate every second with you.

I hope you know that it doesn't matter what you decide to do in life. The important thing is that you LIVE it. There is no bridge that I will not cross for you and no war that I will not fight for you. You will always, always have a home in my arms. I loved you before I met you, I love you now, and I will continue to love you forever, unconditionally, mi cosita hermosa.

With all of my being,

Mom
